Christian Lament : A series of messages for this season of life- six months into Corona Virus pandemic and its impacts in Nepal. The lockdown has caused much stress in the normal life, not only in Nepal for us, but for everyone across the world. As of today (Sept 25) 31,375,000 cases, 966,400 deaths (almost one million) 235 countries. 10,00,000 people’s death is not a simple thing (around 400 lives in Nepal)- even though most of us have not caught or suffered in our bodies, the life in this community, this country, and our world has impacted us. Furthermore, Nepal has suffered from landslides and floods (taking over 350 lives this year), locusts among other disasters and collateral or prolonged impacts (jobs, economy, mental health, etc.), What should be our (church’s and individual’s) response? The leaders in the church and trusted godly people across the world have called for a time of lament. Everyone grieves in life, suffering and pain are part of everyone’s life, but as Christians we are called to peculiar form of grief, a sorrow deep and honest, that reaches out to our neighbors from depths of our hearts out of genuine concern, and godly love, what we are calling “Christian Lament”.This series addresses the need that Nepali churches are not equipped (in proper biblical knowledge and traditional culture) for lamentation, nor do they have a practice, a proper tradition to live out Christian lament. We will learn in this series. Definition: Christian Lament is honest human expression over the losses in life, with full range of human emotions, which is expressed towards loving God, who hears honest cries and prayers addressed to him by his people. It is not hasty in explanations or shallow solutions, but patiently dwell amidst the circumstances, with God and trusted friends within faithful community in becoming mature in fullness of Christ’s character.
