Episode #37 with Gus Poyet (Part 1) Zaragoza, Chelsea & Uruguay Copa America 1995

In Episode #37 Derek is joined by Uruguayan football legend Gus Poyet. This podcast is split in to two parts, in this episode (Part 1) Gus talks about his early life in Uruguay from playing basketball and skateboarding in the streets as a child to his school days and the start of his football career with River Plate. Gus describes his move to Grenoble in France where he had to learn a new language, his time writing history with Real Zaragoza where he won the Copa Del Rey and European Cup Winners Cup and the celebrations that follow. Derek and Gus talk in detail about football in England. Gus details his time at Chelsea, winning the Cup Winners Cup again in 1998, his team mates like Zola, Wise & Di Matteo and lifting the FA Cup at Wembley. He shares his joy of winning the Super Cup v Real Madrid scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory. His favourite achievement in life was winning the Copa America for Uruguay, beating Roberto Carlos and his Brazil team in penalties in the final.
