Everett is one of a growing number of Washington cities cracking down on unhoused people existing on public property. In 2021, the Everett City Council passed a “no-sit, no-lie” ordinance in a 5 to 1 vote. Now, the policy is expanding. The city council last week to give the mayor new authority to create buffer zones around social service providers anywhere in the city.
