On this episode of Guidelines I sit down with UX researcher as well as co-founder and co-director of Monkey and river, Rendani Kruger. Having studied software development, co-founded his own UX consulting firm as well as currently completing a PhD about digital innovation in the South Africa's public sector, Rendani has an valuable perspective the the role of research within user-centred design We met-up at Rendani's office at the University of Pretoria, and spoke about his PHD research, digital minimalism as well as affordances in design. _________________ Rendani's Bio: Rendani is an expert consultant and lecturer in digital innovation and user experience. He completed a dissertation to attain a master’s degree in Information Technology (IT) which primarily focused on the usability of information systems and is currently completing a PhD about digital innovation in the South African public sector. Rendani has done a lot of consulting work in the digital space including the optimisation of user journeys, the design of computer interfaces, user-centric business analysis, quantitative analysis and, software development at banks, public enterprises and, small and large e-commerce organisations. Rendani is the co-founder of a small consulting firm that delivers these services to businesses called Monkey and River and does his part in building a better South Africa by teaching these skills to eager students at the University of Pretoria.
